The Longbridge 100 Backyard Ultra invites runners from all walks of life to experience one of the most unique endurance challenges on the global race calendar. The Summer 2026 edition offers 50 general entry spots with an additional ballot for those who have previously tackled Backyard Ultras or multi-day races. The race starts at 6 PM on Friday evening, giving runners the opportunity to reconnoiter the course during daylight hours if they arrive early enough.
The event takes place in the serene landscape of Longbridge Barns, where participants will run a loop that is precisely 4.2 miles long (6.78 km) through single paths and farm access roads with varying terrain conditions. The route features natural chalky flint and gravel tracks, making trail shoes highly recommended for optimal grip.
The rules are straightforward yet demanding: runners must start each lap exactly on the hour when a bell rings. If you fail to be inside the starting corral at this moment, your race ends there. Each loop is 4 miles long (minimum), with no artificial aids or personal assistance allowed once the run begins—except for brief moments between loops and in designated areas near the start line.
Support comes from fellow runners and a dedicated team of volunteers who will cheer you on throughout the night and into the following days, should your endurance carry you that far. The race continues until just one runner remains standing to complete their final lap alone.
Participants receive access to fully covered barns with amenities for both runners and support crews, including hot and cold water at an aid station stocked with bananas and sweets. A cafe adjacent to the starting corral offers additional sustenance during daylight hours. Dedicated first-aiders are on-site throughout the event, ensuring safety is a top priority.
