Nestled within the remote Cambrian Mountains of Mid Wales, The Loop Ultra 32 Mile trail event offers runners an unparalleled adventure through some of Britain's most unspoiled terrain. This exclusive gathering welcomes both elite athletes and ultra beginners to a unique blend of natural beauty and sustainability. Starting from Camp Plas, a serene nature retreat near the village of Dolanog, participants embark on a marked route that winds through trails, forest tracks, and ancient paths. The journey takes runners past Lake Vrynwy, offering breathtaking views across the Shropshire Hills and southern Snowdonia. Throughout their run, they'll be accompanied by red kites soaring overhead and an array of wildlife. The Loop Ultra is designed to cater to canicross enthusiasts as well; dogs aged at least 12 months are welcome but must remain on a leash throughout the event. While this means no trophies for those running with canine companions, it ensures everyone's safety and enjoyment. Camp Plas provides exclusive camping options including field bell tents and log cabins, all equipped with full amenities like toilets and showers. This eco-friendly site is situated within a small working farmstead beside River Vrynwy, offering opportunities for wild bathing during the event weekend. Friday evening kicks off with a pre-race barbecue featuring locally sourced food and beverages. Post-event celebrations include live music in an open barn on-site, complemented by delicious meals and drinks. Yoga sessions are also scheduled for Sunday morning within the barn or out on Lake Vrynwy if numbers permit. Checkpoints along the route ensure runners stay well-fueled with a variety of snacks including nuts, bananas, sweets, biscuits, crisps, electrolytes, soft drinks like coke and squash, water, and occasionally homemade cake. Special attention is given to dietary requirements such as vegan options. Registration details for Friday night pre-registration are from 4PM to 8PM. The next day's morning registration will be announced closer to the event date, with a start time of 9AM following an 8:45AM briefing session. Participants can look forward to bespoke medals and handcrafted trophies awarded to top finishers along with unique prizes for male and female veterans over 50 years old. Additional giveaways include waterproof jackets and trousers, race vests/packs, base layer tops (synthetic or merino wool), and more. The Loop Ultra is a celebration of nature and community, inviting runners to experience the raw beauty of Mid Wales while supporting sustainable practices through limited capacity and exclusive amenities provided by Camp Plas. For those looking for additional activities beyond running, there are opportunities for wild swimming (weather permitting) and yoga paddle boarding. The event weekend also features campfire gatherings with fire pits available under site rules. Registration is now open; secure your spot to be part of this unforgettable adventure in the heart of Wales!
