The Lossiemouth Half

The Lossie Half Marathon is making its return with an exciting twist – a brand-new looped course designed to offer runners both familiarity and fresh challenges. Scheduled for Sunday, February 14th, 2027, at 10:00 AM in the charming town of Lossiemouth, this event caters not only to serious competitors but also to those looking to enjoy a scenic run on Valentine's Day.
Participants can choose from two start times: an early wave beginning at 9:30 AM for runners who anticipate crossing the finish line after more than two hours. The race is chip-timed and offers bespoke medals available upon registration, allowing you to commemorate your achievement in style.
The course itself winds through Lossiemouth's picturesque roads and cycle paths, offering a flat and manageable route that suits all levels of experience. Despite being an open-road event, the safety of runners remains paramount; Scottish Athletics has granted approval for this race under strict guidelines. This includes ensuring all participants are at least 18 years old on race day.
Valentine's Day themes and creative costumes are warmly encouraged, with special prizes awarded to the top three fastest couples who participate in the fun dress-up category.
Registration is now open until Thursday, February 9th, at 9:00 AM. When picking up your bib and timing chip – either ahead of time or on race day before the event starts – remember to bring photo ID for verification purposes. The collection point will be located around the back of Lossiemouth Sports & Community Centre.
Parking options are plentiful but fill quickly, so plan accordingly. You can park at the leisure center, East Beach Car Park, West Beach Carpark, or on nearby residential streets with care and consideration. To minimize traffic congestion, carpooling is highly recommended among fellow runners.
Once you're ready to run, ensure your headphones meet safety standards by using bone-conducting models only; in-ear options will lead to disqualification for the sake of everyone's well-being during the race.
The 2027 Lossie Half Marathon features a strict time cut-off: 2.5 hours after the main start and 3 hours post the early wave, with course support tapering off by midday as marshals are withdrawn at these designated times to maintain efficiency and safety throughout the event's duration.
Upon crossing the finish line, you'll be greeted with basic refreshments in addition to an atmosphere buzzing with camaraderie. The community center offers changing facilities, showers, and toilets for your convenience before or after the race. Prizes will also be awarded based on gun time rather than chip timing, so position yourself accordingly at the start.
