The Marlow Donkey LDWA Event offers runners an unforgettable challenge through some of England's most picturesque landscapes. Set along three route options—25km, 40km, and a special 50km edition to commemorate the group’s golden anniversary—participants can choose from distances that cater to various skill levels. The event begins at Liston Hall in Marlow, where entrants will set out on an adventure through the Chiltern Hills. The longer routes wind through charming villages like Hambleden and Bix before returning to the finish line by 7:00 PM sharp. While there is a mass start for walkers at 8:00 AM specifically for the 50km route, runners can choose their starting time between 8:15 AM and 9:30 AM, ensuring they align with checkpoint openings that vary based on distance. Participants will be treated to refreshments provided by Thames Valley LDWA along the way. The start line offers drinks and snacks, while additional points of sustenance are available at checkpoints throughout the course. For those completing longer routes, a hearty daal curry awaits at the finish line. However, it's important to note that these meals may contain allergens due to practical kitchen constraints. Upon completion, all runners will receive timed e-certificates via SI Entries and a complimentary badge as tokens of achievement. Entry fees are £15 for LDWA members (available from June 1st) and £20 for non-members (from September 1st). The event strictly adheres to its capacity limit of 150 participants, typically reaching full enrollment early in the fall. For those traveling by car, parking is available near Liston Hall at a cost of £1.20 per day on Sundays. Alternately, public transportation options like trains from Marlow Station and buses from Wycombe or Reading are encouraged to reduce traffic congestion around the start area. Safety and comfort are paramount; each runner must carry essential gear including waterproof clothing, emergency shelter, food for at least 6 hours of activity, a whistle, headlamp with spare batteries, map, compass, survival bag, first aid kit, knife, and plenty of water to stay hydrated. The Marlow Donkey LDWA Event promises an immersive experience in nature, combining scenic beauty with the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. Whether you're tackling the shorter 25km route or embarking on the full-day adventure of the 50km option, this event is a celebration of endurance and exploration.
