The Merthyr Half Marathon

Organized by Merthyr Running Club, this race takes runners on an exciting journey through the picturesque Trevithick trail and Taff Trail. The course is primarily set on roads and tarmac but also features a short stretch of scenic trails for added variety.
The event kicks off at 10:00 AM with the half marathon starting line situated outside Merthyr College, where participants can drop their bags before heading out onto the route. Race day amenities include baggage storage and toilet facilities on-site to ensure runners have everything they need without any hassle.
With a cut-off time of four hours, this race allows for a comfortable yet challenging pace as you explore the rolling hills and landscapes around Merthyr Tydfil. Upon crossing the finish line, all participants will be greeted with a well-deserved finisher's medal along with an exclusive t-shirt and goody bag.
Race packs are available either on race day or at a collection point the day before for those who prefer to arrive prepared. Additionally, there’s a special option called XCover that allows runners to secure their entry fee in case unforeseen circumstances prevent them from participating.
The event also caters to younger athletes with two fun runs designed specifically for children:
- A mini run for 4 to 7-year-olds starting at 8:45 AM
- And a junior race for those aged between 8 and 16, beginning promptly at 9:15 AM
Both of these races offer their own finisher medals, ensuring that all participants leave with memorable keepsakes from the day.
