Kick off the holiday season with this beloved 21-mile trek around Hebden Bridge's picturesque moors. The route, which loops back to its starting point at Mytholmroyd Community Centre on Caldene Avenue, promises an exhilarating journey through some of Yorkshire’s most stunning landscapes. The course winds anti-clockwise over Midgley Moor, Wadsworth Moor, Heptonstall Moor, and Erringden Moor before descending into the heart of Mytholmroyd. With a total elevation gain of 3900 feet, this challenging yet rewarding route offers breathtaking views at every turn. Adding to the festive spirit, participants are encouraged to wear Santa hats and bring small gifts (valued no more than £10) for the traditional Bran Tub ceremony post-race. The event also includes a hearty meal, served in the warm community center where you’ll find changing rooms with showers available. As this is a winter trek, all runners must carry essential safety equipment such as emergency blankets and waterproof clothing. GPS devices are permitted but only as a backup; participants should be prepared to navigate independently due to unmarked trails and specific checkpoint requirements. The event welcomes walkers from 08:00 until 08:45, followed by the race start at 09:00 for competitive runners. Dogs are allowed on the early walk but must remain leashed throughout. Participants under 18 years old cannot enter this challenging course. For those concerned about last-minute cancellations, XCover is available to provide financial peace of mind should unforeseen circumstances arise. This event isn’t just a race; it’s an immersive experience that blends physical challenge with the joyous spirit of Christmas in Yorkshire. Join us for what promises to be one of the most memorable races of your year!
