THE PRIORY ULTRA

Immerse yourself in the stunning beauty of Northumberland’s coastline with The Priory 100km Ultra. This challenging yet rewarding ultra trail race takes runners on an unforgettable journey from Bamburgh Castle to the majestic Tynemouth Priory.
The route is a tapestry of iconic landmarks and breathtaking scenery, including Beadnell Harbour, Dunstanburgh Castle, Craster Village, Warkworth Castle, Seaton Sluice, Whitley Bay, and Cullercoats. Each mile offers runners an intimate connection with Northumberland’s rich history and natural beauty.
Runners will be supported every step of the way by a network of well-stocked feed stations located at strategic points along the route—Low Newton, Boulmer, Warkworth Beach, Druridge Bay, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, and Blyth. These stops offer essential hydration with VOOM Hydration drinks and energy bars, as well as an array of snacks including fruit, sweets, chocolate, and savoury options.
The event is fully waymarked and marshalled to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. Extensive medical cover is provided at key locations along the course.
Participants are required to carry essential items in their backpacks: water or fluids, a charged mobile phone with emergency contacts (ICE), food and gels, and a headtorch if finishing after 9pm. A lightweight jacket should also be included for unexpected weather changes.
The race starts between 6:00-7:30 am from the car park near Bamburgh Castle on Links Road, NE69 7AX. Finishers will cross the finish line at Tynemouth Priory after an epic run through its historic gates.
All runners are tracked throughout the event and can be followed by loved ones via a dot watch system. Upon crossing the finish line, participants receive a metal event medal, exclusive merchandise from The Priory, and refreshments to celebrate their achievement.
