In the heart of Holbrook, the community comes together each year to honor the memory of Sean Joyce, a young life tragically cut short by Eastern Equine Encephalitis. Since 2004, this small town has transformed grief into unity and resilience through various initiatives that keep Sean’s spirit alive. The centerpiece is the construction of the Sean Joyce Baseball/Soccer Field adjacent to Sumner Field, complete with a walking track encircling both venues. This space serves as more than just a sports facility; it stands as a living tribute to Sean's legacy. The community has also awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to Holbrook students, ensuring that future generations carry on his memory. Beyond these tangible gestures, the town’s commitment extends into youth programs and ongoing support for local schools like Holbrook Middle-High School. Each year during Homecoming festivities, residents participate actively through events such as a 5K Road Race and a one-mile walk.
