The Sparrow Race, inspired by the Latin phrase "dum spiro, sparo" — while I breathe, I hope — is set to take place this year in Griffin, Georgia. This scenic trail race features a two-mile loop around a picturesque lake, offering runners an opportunity to experience nature and challenge themselves over varying distances. The event kicks off at 8:00 AM with the start of the six-hour endurance run, followed by the three-hour category beginning at 11:00 AM. This staggered start ensures that all participants complete their respective courses simultaneously. The route primarily consists of gentle undulations along a single-track trail, providing a smooth and accessible running surface. A central aid station will be set up to cater to various dietary preferences with food and beverage options available throughout the day. Participants are encouraged to bring additional fuel and hydration for sustained performance, as well as camping gear if they wish to rest at designated camp areas during breaks. All registered runners receive a custom Sparrow Race T-shirt upon completing their registration by January 20th. Those who complete 50 kilometers within six hours or achieve the 25-kilometer mark in three hours will be eligible for an extra raffle ticket, offering them a chance to win prizes from our sponsors. The event places significant emphasis on mental health and overall well-being, with Emily Labutta APC — a consultant dedicated to helping individuals overcome obstacles and find balance in their lives — providing support services. She specializes in addressing issues such as perfectionism and over-accommodation of others’ needs through her counseling practice at https://attentocounseling.com/emily-labutta-apc/. To ensure the event runs smoothly and respects participants' rights, full refunds are available for withdrawals made up to three months before race day. After this period, no further requests will be accepted. The Sparrow Race is more than a competition; it's an empowering experience that encourages each participant to discover their resilience and hope in facing life’s challenges. Join us at the lake trail in Griffin GA as we celebrate perseverance and personal growth. In this serene setting, runners are invited to embrace not only physical endurance but also mental fortitude, fostering connections with nature while pushing individual limits on a beautifully crafted course that highlights both tranquility and challenge.

About Griffin
Learn more about the host city, Griffin.
Griffin is a city of 23,000 (2020) in Central Georgia near Atlanta. It is the southernmost town included in the Atlanta Metro Area and has held on vehemently to its "small town" appeal. At the same time the town is being forced into modernization. This has caused an interesting contrast between the deeply religious and devout churches and the packed nightclubs and bars. The people will almost always display classic southern hospitality as long as they are given the same in return.
