The Steven LoCascio Memorial Fund Heart to Heart 5k

The Steven LoCascio Memorial Fund Heart to Heart 5K returns to Latrobe, Pennsylvania on September 19th, 2026. The event will take place at the Latrobe City Park, situated in a quiet neighborhood known for its serene atmosphere and historical significance.
Race morning finds runners gathering along the picturesque trails of Latrobe City Park. At 8:00 am, participants begin to arrive, lacing up their shoes as they prepare for an early start. The park’s vibrant colors and lush greenery provide a natural backdrop against the crisp September air. By 9 am, the first wave of runners set off on a challenging but rewarding course through the firm yet slightly soft terrain.
This is the fifth year running the Steven LoCascio Memorial Fund Heart to Heart 5K. Over the past four years, more than two hundred participants have gathered each fall to honor Steven and support his family’s commitment to giving back. The event supports scholarships for GLSD students K-12 through the Steven LoCascio Memorial Scholarship Fund, ensuring that young minds in Latrobe are nurtured with educational opportunities.
The race course begins at the Latrobe City Park entrance on River Street, adjacent to Latrobe High School. Runners and walkers will navigate a looped route of about 5 kilometers, featuring undulating terrain that requires both endurance and skill. The course includes several notable features such as a gentle incline near the park’s main pavilion and a scenic stretch along the riverbank.
At race start, runners are greeted by a temperature range between 12°C to 16°C with moderate UV index of 5.0, providing enough warmth for comfortable running while keeping an eye on sun protection. The firm surface is slightly soft in spots due to typical fall conditions, making it important to wear appropriate footwear.
The race offers a 5K run/walk and includes t-shirts as part of the entry fee with limited quantities available first-come-first-served basis until September 5th, 2026. For GLSD students K-12, registration is $23.39, while regular participants pay $28.74.
Race day begins at Latrobe City Park from 8:00 am for packet pick-up and race day registration. Bibs can be collected at the same location on September 18th from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm or day of race starting at 8 am.
