About the Event

The Strawberry Solstice Run returns to Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin on June 20th, 2026, for its third year as a unique overnight timed event along the Driftless Trail Collective's scenic course. This special run takes place at dusk and continues into dawn, offering runners an unforgettable experience under the stars in one of the most picturesque regions of southwestern Wisconsin.
As night falls on Prairie Du Chien, the Millville Bridle Unit comes alive with a palpable energy that is both intimate and communal. The air carries hints of early summer's coolness despite lingering warmth from earlier daylight hours. Participants will navigate through an undulating landscape marked by dense forests and open meadows, illuminated only by ambient moonlight and strategically placed lights along the route. This year’s event promises to be as engaging and supportive as ever, with a tight-knit community of runners joining together for what has become a beloved tradition in Prairie Du Chien.
Since its inception three years ago, The Strawberry Solstice Run has grown steadily while maintaining its core values of inclusivity and sustainability. Each iteration brings new faces alongside familiar ones who return to support the Driftless Area Land Conservancy through suggested donations at registration. With a limited capacity of 75 runners per year, this race offers an exclusive opportunity for participants to contribute meaningfully to conservation efforts in their local community.
The course itself winds along the well-maintained paths within the Millville Bridle Unit, featuring a single 5.25-mile loop that highlights both the charm and challenge of its natural terrain. The route begins with a notable climb at dusk—a moment where lights are strategically positioned to ensure safety—and continues through varied elevations characteristic of the Driftless Area's unique geography. Aid stations will be set up in the parking lot, serving as race HQ for all logistical needs including bib pickup and announcements.
Runners should expect mild temperatures ranging between 16°C at nightfall to a peak of around 27°C by dawn. Humidity levels are moderate with an average wind speed that may provide some cooling relief during hotter intervals. Trail conditions will generally be hard and dry, though participants should remain prepared for potential showers given the area’s typical June weather patterns. The UV index is anticipated to reach very high levels; thus, sunscreen and proper protection against sun exposure are strongly recommended.
