The Tunnel Marathon

The Tunnel Marathon returns for its third edition, bringing the unique underground running experience from Germany directly to the UK. This exclusive event takes place 100 feet beneath Portsmouth at UCAP BUNKER, an ex-Royal Navy Underground HQ used during World War II to coordinate D-Day operations.
Competitors will navigate through several tunnels within this historic site, some of which stand only six feet tall, requiring runners to stoop in certain sections. Taller participants should be prepared for frequent low-ceiling stretches that last around 20 meters but are repeated throughout the course. The route is designed with multiple laps, ensuring a challenging and immersive experience.
Participants must bring their own headtorches and cycle helmets as mandatory safety gear. Race day will adhere to ARC Running Club rules, and all necessary permits and insurance details will be displayed at the start line for transparency.
UCAP BUNKER offers exceptional facilities that are also used by military forces for training in close quarter battle scenarios due to its unique setting. The event is located just two miles north of Portsmouth with a postcode of PO17 6AR, providing easy access and clear directions.
