The Twmbarlwm Terror 2026

The Twmbarlwm Terror, organized by Fairwater Runners Cwmbran, is set to challenge runners on Sunday, November 1st, 2026. This approximately seven-mile race winds through the picturesque landscapes of Risca and Pantyreos in South Wales, culminating at the peak of Twmbarlwm before returning back down to Risca.
The course features a diverse range of terrains including footpaths, open fields, country lanes, and woodland trails. With an elevation gain of around 1000 feet, this race is not for the faint-hearted but offers breathtaking views along its rugged path. The sixth edition of this event has continued to attract enthusiastic participants who appreciate both the scenic beauty and rigorous challenge.
Registration opens online via Entry Central until October 30th at midnight. On-the-day entries are also possible (cash only) up to race capacity, which is limited to 200 runners. Registration for on-site entrants will be available from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM.
The event starts promptly at 10:30 AM near Newport South Wales NP11 6GH at the Risca Leisure Centre. Participants can enjoy complimentary tea, coffee, and cake post-race as well as access to changing facilities and showers provided by the venue.
Safety is a top priority with medical support and rescue services on standby throughout the race. The route itself is carefully marshalled for runners' protection while refreshments are available en-route to sustain energy levels during this demanding run.
Competitors can look forward to a range of prizes, including first-place awards in multiple categories such as male/female overall winners, seniors (up to 39 years), veterans (40-49 years), super-veterans (50-59 years) and super-super-veterans (60+). Additionally, there's a cash prize for setting new course records in both genders. The event also features spot prizes like best fancy dress to add an element of fun.
