On Saturday, October 10, 2026, Pigeon Creek County Park near West Olive, Michigan will host the Ultra Bird Trail Races & RUCK Challenge. This fall endurance event combines trail running and rucking challenges to support the Egress Endurance Project’s mission of empowering individuals battling addiction through outdoor movement. The day offers a variety of events for all levels of endurance athletes: Trail Running Events: - 12-Hour Trail Race: Push your limits by covering as many miles as possible. - 6-Hour Trail Race: Test your stamina on scenic singletrack trails. - 10K Trail Race: Experience fast, challenging, and fun fall trail racing. - 5K Trail Race: Enjoy a strong effort through beautiful wooded terrain. RUCK Challenge Events: - 6-Hour RUCK Challenge: Carry a minimum of 20 lbs in your ruck or weighted vest for six hours. - 3-Hour RUCK Challenge: A shorter but equally demanding test of endurance and grit. All events take place on a ~5K loop at Pigeon Creek County Park, featuring rolling terrain with significant elevation changes. The course is marked by stunning fall foliage and offers easy access to aid stations and crew support throughout the day. Ultra Bird Trail Races & RUCK Challenge is more than just an athletic competition; it’s a powerful statement of perseverance, hope, and forward motion in support of recovery through movement. Participants will have access to fully stocked aid stations for timed events and receive finisher medals upon completion. Event swag including patches and optional event apparel are also available. The park remains open to the public during the race due to Ottawa County Parks regulations, so please respect other visitors by adhering to signage and marked trails. Participants can pick up their packets at Pigeon Creek Lodge on race day from 7:00 AM to 7:50 AM for timed events. For those running in the 10K or 5K races, packet pickup is available between 8:15 AM and 8:50 AM. Parking is provided on-site at Pigeon Creek County Park within walking distance of the start/finish area. The address for the park is 12524 Stanton Street, West Olive, MI 49460. Restrooms are available near the starting line, and there’s a place to drop off bags. Pacers are allowed in both the 12-hour and 6-hour events. For these races, participants must bring headlamps as part of their gear requirements. The event will proceed rain or shine with no refunds offered; however, bib transfers can be arranged by contacting egressendurance@gmail.com. Any differences in event prices for transferred entries need to be covered at the time of transfer.
