Wetherby Wheel Cycle Sportive – A Springtime Ride Through Yorkshire's Scenic Countryside
On Saturday, April 3rd, 2027, cyclists of all experience levels are invited to the Wetherby Wheel Cycle Sportive. This event takes place in Bramham Park, located on Bramham Lane near Wetherby, offering riders a chance to explore some of Yorkshire's most beautiful landscapes.
The sportive offers two routes designed for different skill sets: a 60km route ideal for first-time participants and a challenging 100km course suitable for both novice and seasoned cyclists. Both routes wind through picturesque villages such as Wetherby, Thorner, Boston Spa, and Tadcaster before returning to the finish line at Bramham Park.
Participants will enjoy fully signed routes that adhere strictly to The Highway Code with helmets required throughout the ride. Feed stations along each route provide essential refreshments including drinks, hydration packs, energy gels, bananas, chocolate bars, and sweets to keep riders fueled during their journey.
Cyclists can choose a start time between 7:30am and 8:30am, allowing them flexibility based on personal preferences. Upon completion of the course, all finishers will be awarded with exclusive Wild Deer merchandise, an event medal, and snacks and drinks to celebrate their achievement.
For those under 17 years old wishing to participate in this outdoor cycling experience, it's important to note that due to safety regulations regarding open-road cycling, they are not permitted. However, the Wetherby Wheel Cycle Sportive welcomes riders aged 17 and above who have a passion for exploring Yorkshire’s countryside by bike.
On-site parking is available at Bramham Park but comes with a £3 fee per vehicle; carpooling is encouraged to reduce traffic congestion and environmental impact.
