Nestled within the picturesque Windstone Landing Farms, the Wicked Windstone Loop offers runners an immersive and challenging experience through diverse landscapes. This 5-kilometer loop encompasses rolling farmland, serene ponds, dense woodlands, and scenic creek trails, providing a complete taste of the property's natural beauty with each lap. The course begins under the iconic willow tree near the Start/Finish area before crossing the pond land bridge into open fields. As runners traverse the eastern perimeter field, they enter the northern woodland where singletrack paths wind through towering pines and alongside serene creeks. Notable landmarks include a historic hunting blind, secluded forest clearings, and the scenic creek corridor. Late in each loop comes The Wall—a steep wooded climb that challenges even the most seasoned athletes before easing into rolling pine trails near the pond boundary. This transition offers expansive views of the surrounding countryside, contrasting with earlier enclosed sections. Runners then pass through the farmstead area where spectators, volunteers, and local facilities become part of the race atmosphere. The loop concludes on Windstone Lane with a short out-and-back segment before returning to the Start/Finish for another lap or celebration. The 100-mile event starts slightly offset from the main area but follows this same challenging route across 32 loops. Elevation gains vary by distance—5K at approximately 300 feet, 50K with over 3,000 feet of elevation gain, and for the grueling 100-miler, runners will have climbed more than 10,000 feet. The Wicked Reversal™ adds an unpredictable twist to this already challenging course; at least once during the race, participants must adapt their strategy as organizers signal a change in direction. Participants are encouraged to prepare with appropriate gear such as headlamps for nighttime runs and trekking poles for added support on steep sections. Pacers can provide assistance after specific loop milestones but must adhere strictly to event rules. All finishers receive official medals or buckles, while top male and female runners in each category earn additional accolades from the Race Director. On-site camping is included with registration, offering a rustic setting near the Start/Finish area complete with porta restrooms for overnight stays. The Wicked Windstone Loop invites endurance athletes to test their limits amidst natural beauty and community support at Windstone Landing Farms.
