EVENT DESCRIPTION:
This year we celebrate the 41st Running of Rome's oldest race! What began as a fundraiser by the Rome Jaycees to repair Rome's iconic City Clock has grown into one of Georgia's premier running events. This year will mark the 21st year that funds raised from this fun and challenging race will benefit the effort of the Exchange Club Family Resource Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. One of the oldest races in Georgia history, the race course wind through historic downtown Rome and climbs historic Clocktower Hill in the second mile before finishing with a view of the Coosa River in Heritage Park. Both the 5K and the 2-mile Health Walk courses are quite scenic, as they take in much of the "Between the Rivers" district of beautiful downtown Rome. Short sleeve tee-shirts are guaranteed to runners and walkers registered by midnight, August 5th.
We are pleased to be part of the Atlanta Journal Constitution Peachtree Road Race Qualifier Program! Your race time this year can be used as a qualifying time for the 2027 Peachtree Road Race.
AMENITIES:
5K and 2-MILE COURSES:
Race headquarters is in Heritage Park. Race starts on West 3rd Street, runs through Historic Downtown Rome ascending the iconic Clocktower Hill of course, circles Myrtle Hill, and finishes on the Levee of Heritage Park. The 2-Mile Health Walk starts on 2nd Avenue at the exit drive of Heritage Park, follows a gentler ascent to Clocktower Hill, continues through the Town Green and crosses the historic John Ross Footbridge, follows the path along the Oostanaula River and finishes inside Heritage Park.
The 5K course is certified by USATF, course number: GA24030WC
The 5K will be chip-timed by Wire2Wire Running; the 2-mile Health Walk will be non-competitive and will not be timed.

Late Registration...
Group Discount:
Teams of 10 or more (any combination of run & walk) receive a discount of $3 per person.
Registrations for each team must all be submitted together no later than August 5, 2026.
PRE-RACE PACKET PICKUP:
Participants may pick up race packets and bibs on Friday, August 14th, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at First United Methodist Church of Rome Wilder Center, 202 East 3rd Ave, Rome, GA 30161.
5K AWARDS:
We've got some really cool awards planned!
1st place Overall (Male and Female)
1st Place Masters (Male & Female)
1st Place Grandmasters (Male & Female)
1st, 2nd, & 3rd in each of the following Age Groups: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 & older.
Also, a special award will be given to the Youngest Finisher and the Oldest Finisher of the 5K.
NOTE: The 2-Mile Health Walk will be for health and fun; no awards will be given for the 2-Mile Health Walk.
PARKING:
Plenty of parking is available at Heritage Park and the adjoining Riverview Park near the ballfields.
