TO50 - Run 50km Across Toronto. Finish and It's Free.
About the Event
TO50 is an independent and self-supported ultramarathon that challenges runners with a grueling 50km course through the heart of Toronto. This race requires participants to carry all their own supplies, providing only essential support at designated checkpoints along the route. The event kicks off on September 5, 2026, starting from the scenic waterfront area and taking you onto the Martin Goodman Trail for an initial stretch before venturing up through the Lower Don River Trail. The course then transitions into a challenging segment known as "the Eglinton grind," where runners must navigate rough terrain and steep inclines. Finally, participants will complete their journey on the Humber River Trail. Registration is straightforward yet competitive: entrants pay $50 to secure their spot. If you manage to finish within 12 hours starting at 6 AM, your entry fee is fully refunded. Those who do not cross the finish line by 6 PM forfeit their payment as a symbolic cost of not completing the challenge. Key rules include adhering strictly to traffic laws and maintaining environmental integrity by leaving no trace behind. Runners are encouraged to support one another along the course but must follow the designated GPS route provided beforehand. Headphones are prohibited on roads with heavy vehicle traffic for safety reasons. The race offers a limited number of 50 spots, making it an exclusive event. Prizes totaling $600 will be awarded to the top three finishers: first place receives $300, second gets $200, and third wins $100. TO50 is not just about pushing physical limits but also immersing yourself in Toronto's diverse urban landscape while experiencing a unique community of like-minded endurance athletes. Join the inaugural edition for an unforgettable adventure through one of Canada’s most vibrant cities.
