About the Event

Tokyo Health Walk is part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's effort to cut deaths from colorectal cancer by encouraging more people to get screened. This is the 17th edition, staged at Hikarigaoka Park.
Three walking courses are offered: an 8 km route that starts from the park and loops through Nerima Ward, a 4 km route suited to walking with children, and a 2 km course for walkers with their dogs, kept to a designated area inside the park. Dogs are the only pets allowed, and pre-school children and infants may take part too. Elementary school pupils and younger must be accompanied by a guardian.
Entry comes in three types. Category A, for people aged 40 and over, combines the walk with a free colorectal cancer screening. Category B is the walk only, open to junior high school students and above, and Category C is the 2 km walk with a dog, also for junior high school students and above.
