On December 26, 2026, GAC Gemert hosts the Topvorm Kerstloop, an exciting winter race that brings together runners of all ages for a festive day out. The event takes place near the scouting Willibrordus hut located at De Hoef 22 in Gemert. The morning kicks off with children's races designed to encourage young athletes: - At 10:00 AM, participants aged five and up can join the 1 km youth run. - A few minutes later, at 10:10 AM, a 2.5 km race opens for those born in or after 2011. Following these events, registration closes on December 23, 2026, with an early bird discount available until December 19th. Late registrants can still sign up at the scouting Willibrordus hut starting from 9:00 AM on race day. The main races begin shortly after: - At 10:30 AM, runners have a choice between two distances – either a 2.5 km or a more challenging 5 km course. - Shortly thereafter, at 10:35 AM, awards are presented to the young participants who just completed their runs. The day's highlights continue with longer races for seasoned athletes: - At 11:15 AM, both 7.5 and 10 km events start simultaneously, offering a mix of terrain that showcases Gemert’s winter landscape. - Prize-giving ceremonies follow each race to celebrate the achievements of all participants. The event emphasizes community engagement and sustainability by using reusable bib numbers for environmental conservation efforts. Participants are reminded that registration fees are non-refundable once paid, and they consent to having their images used for promotional purposes during the event. With a variety of distances catering to different skill levels, the Topvorm Kerstloop promises an engaging day filled with festive cheer and competitive spirit.
