Welcome to the 20th annual Tour de Dirt: an unforgettable bike ride that explores the lesser-known roads of Floyd County. More than half of this journey will traverse unpaved state roads, making it perfect for gravel bikes, cross bikes, and mountain bikes alike. This year introduces a new 100-mile route, which is less marked to encourage riders to rely on their navigation skills. Five additional routes are also available, each offering unique challenges and scenic views of Floyd County's back roads. A short prologue ride at Floyd Family Campground (Chantilly Farm) will help participants familiarize themselves with the various courses before they set off. The event kicks off early in the morning: full pull/Fiddy Art time is scheduled for 8:30 am, while Lite and Funn starts are planned for 9 am and 9:15 am respectively. Multiple aid stations along each route will provide hydration and snacks. Participants can also pick up paper cue sheets at the start line to assist with navigation. This tour offers a fully supported experience; think of it as "Ride Your Pace!" rather than a race. With four distinct distances—Fun Ultra 32, Lite 38, Fiddy 56, and Full Pull 78—the event caters to all cyclists who enjoy multi-surface rides and the opportunity to explore Floyd County's lesser-known roads. Proceeds from entry fees will support Plenty! Farm & Fresh Food Pantry. Bring a donation of peanut butter if you can; it’s delicious! The event begins at Floyd Family Campground (Chantilly Farm) in Floyd, Virginia. Participants are encouraged to camp there and enjoy special discounts offered exclusively for Tour de Dirt riders. For tent camping inquiries, contact Floyd Family Campground directly: visit their website or call (540) 251-2250. Coffee lovers will be thrilled with the free coffee provided by Red Rooster, along with sweet rolls from Grateful Bread and other breakfast treats. Your registration includes access to on-course aid stations as well as a meal ticket for our Power Up Plenty! Chili Feast. Non-participants can purchase separate tickets if they plan to join in. Hammer Nutrition, Outer Space, and Republic of Floyd are sponsoring the event, offering free beverage tickets for all registered riders. The night after your ride, enjoy libations at Plenty!’s fundraiser while you relax with friends and family on the big covered stage at FFC. Food and beer tickets can be purchased by non-riders as well. Each participant will receive a handmade ceramic bowl from local artists like Empty Bowls @ Virginia Tech, Frog Hollow Pottery (part of 16 Hands artist collective), and other potters to keep after the event. You'll have ample time to enjoy your chili, with both vegetarian and meat options available. Early packet pickup is set for Friday night from 4:30-7:30 pm at the Farmers Market or Saturday morning starting at 7 am at Floyd Family Campground. Plenty! aims to nourish community by encouraging local food sharing and sustainable practices while fostering a healthy, diverse, welcoming environment through generosity of spirit.
