Towpath Series: A Night Run Experience Like No Other
Join us for an evening filled with running, camaraderie, and excitement along the towpaths of Ashton Park School. The Towpath Series presents four unique races—three 10K events and a shorter 5K race—to cater to all levels of runners.
The series kicks off at 7:30 PM sharp from the underpass near the school’s sports center, with participants gathering for number collection starting at 6:30 PM. Race day is bustling with energy as local running clubs, companies, and teams vie for glory in a team competition known as The Mob Match. Each club's first 15 finishers contribute to their overall score; the top finishing positions determine which group takes home a prestigious trophy.
The route itself winds along the towpath—a straightforward out-and-back course that offers no chance of getting lost, thanks to numerous enthusiastic marshals stationed throughout. This gentle undulating path features sections of tarmac and gravel footpaths, with occasional roots and rocks adding character to your run. The atmosphere is electric as runners push through the final stretch towards the finish line.
After crossing the tape, participants are rewarded not only for their efforts but also treated to a lively raffle draw where every runner receives a free entry ticket upon completion of each race. Don't miss out on staying around post-race; prizes will be awarded promptly at 9:30 PM sharp, with winners announced and trophies handed over in person.
