The Limitless Trails BYU Series is set to challenge runners once again this season with its unique blend of endurance and speed. This particular instalment features an innovative format that combines eleven hours of steady progress with a final sprint finish. Set amidst the serene beauty of Crickhowell in the heart of the Black Mountains, the course offers a mix of trail and tarmac terrain, making it both scenic and fast-paced. The route is 50/50 trail and road, featuring just one gradual incline and a short steep section, with mostly flat stretches that allow runners to maintain their pace. Participants will start at 9am on Saturday morning from the designated starting corral. Each loop of approximately 4.167 miles must be completed within an hour for it to count towards your total distance. The final yard is different – a race where only the fastest runner in that last lap emerges victorious, adding an exciting twist to this endurance event. The course will provide runners with essential hydration and nutrition at various points throughout the eleven loops. After completing five yards, participants can enjoy additional hot food at the headquarters aid station before continuing their journey. To ensure fairness and safety, there are specific rules in place: no late starts after the bell rings for each loop; competitors must stay on course until they complete a yard unless it’s to use restrooms; personal support is not allowed during active loops. The event also prohibits artificial aids like trekking poles. Medals will be awarded to all who finish their assigned yards, with special recognition going to those who reach the ultra distance of 32 miles and first place male and female runners for completing the final yard in record time. Supporters can park at headquarters for a small fee that includes entry into another event of their choice. There are medical personnel on site should any runner need assistance during the race, along with showers and toilets available post-race. Photographers will capture moments throughout the day, offering free downloads to participants after the event concludes. A pop-up kitchen is also set up for supporters who wish to help out in meal preparation but must stay outside designated staff areas. With its blend of challenging terrain, competitive spirit, and supportive atmosphere, this Limitless Trails BYU Series race promises an unforgettable experience for all involved.
