TreeTops 8.5 Mile

Experience the grandeur of DuPont State Recreational Forest during the TreeTops 8.5 Mile Trail Race, set for Saturday, October 17, 2026. This year marks the fourth edition of this exclusive race with a limited field of just 300 participants.
Race morning will present crisp autumn air, averaging around 14°C (57°F). Despite these mild conditions, expect a demanding course that features nearly 1,000 feet in elevation gain and rugged terrain. The trail journey through the forest showcases diverse landscapes, including rocky paths and gentle descents, challenging your stamina and skill.
The race commences at the forest entrance off U.S. Route 276 East in Brevard. As you embark on this adventure, prepare for steep climbs that will test both your endurance and agility on DuPont’s challenging trails. The course spans an 8.5-mile distance, providing a perfect blend of strength and endurance challenges.
On race day, from 10am to 3pm, enjoy the vibrant festival atmosphere at the forest entrance. Vendor booths offer a range of activities such as hiking trail information, bike rentals, waterfall tours, yoga sessions, and outdoor recreation tips workshops. Admission is free for all attendees, making this an inclusive event.
For those unable to join in person, virtual registration is available with a fee of $82.63 per participant. Both groups will gather at 9am on race day to ensure they have ample time to warm up before tackling DuPont’s trails.
Race participants can collect their bibs and materials between 9am to 4pm on October 16th from the DuPont State Recreational Forest Visitor Center, requiring a valid photo ID. There are no age restrictions for this event.
