The Treherne Marathon, held each fall in south-central Manitoba, is a true test of endurance and scenery. Just an hour from Winnipeg, this race takes you through rolling country roads and the picturesque Tiger Hills as the leaves turn their brilliant fall colors. Runners can choose from a 1-mile, 5K, 10K, half marathon, or full marathon, with the full course officially measured and a Boston qualifier.
Known as "the toughest race on the prairies," participants are challenged by rolling hills and open countryside before finishing back in town, where volunteers greet runners with medals and refreshments at the community center.
This event is entirely community-driven, organized by local volunteers who manage everything from registration to water stations and post-race food. Proceeds support a variety of local initiatives, including the fire department, arenas, pool, medical clinic, and schools. Treherne’s unique collaboration between local organizations has earned it accolades like the Partnership Award from Central Manitoba Tourism and nominations for the Travel Manitoba award.
For those seeking a demanding race with a personal touch and the charm of a small-town finish, Treherne offers an unforgettable running experience through Manitoba’s beautiful hills.
