Child Wellbeing & Protection in Sport - Online Workshop Wednesday, November 4, 2026 | 18:00-21:00 GMT The Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport workshop is a cornerstone training program recognized by all sports governing bodies as the minimum standard for child protection education. This essential course equips individuals who work with children and young athletes in sporting environments with crucial skills to safeguard their welfare. During this three-hour interactive webinar, participants will gain insight into recognizing signs of abuse and learn how to respond appropriately when faced with potential issues. The workshop aims to build confidence among coaches, officials, and volunteers so they can handle sensitive situations effectively and sensitively. Key learning outcomes include: - Identifying best practices in coaching that promote child safety. - Understanding personal values and emotions related to child protection. - Recognizing indicators of abuse and knowing how to respond appropriately. - Taking decisive action if concerns about a child's well-being arise. The workshop consists of two parts: an online module completed before the live session, followed by a three-hour interactive webinar. Participants will engage with experienced tutors and fellow attendees in real-time discussions and small group activities designed to enhance learning through collaboration and practical application. To participate: - Access Brightspace, sportscotland's learning platform, approximately two weeks prior to the workshop. - Receive an email from d2lsupport@learninginsport.brightspace.com confirming your enrollment; check junk or spam folders for this message. - Join Triathlon Scotland’s virtual classroom using a provided web link on the day of the session. Technical requirements include: - A computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone with stable internet connection. - Recommended browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Edge (not Internet Explorer and Legacy Edge). Upon completion, participants must complete a survey within Brightspace to receive their Child Wellbeing & Protection in Sport certificate.
