Annandale feels like stepping back in time with its blend of old-world architecture alongside modern amenities. The race begins under the cool glow of street lamps just after sunset, as runners weave through the heart of the town's bustling downtown area. As you run along Market Street, the rhythmic sound of footsteps and occasional chime from a nearby clock tower create an intimate atmosphere that is both familiar yet energizing.
This event has been a staple in Annandale for five consecutive years now, attracting over 100 participants each time to support local charities such as the Annandale Community Services. The race not only brings together seasoned runners and walkers but also fosters a sense of community engagement that makes it more than just an athletic challenge.
The course itself takes you through Annandale’s picturesque Main Street, where quaint shops line both sides offering a mix of pastel colors against a backdrop of lush greenery from the surrounding parks. You'll pass by the historic Annandale Courthouse and perhaps catch a glimpse of local residents out for their evening stroll or jog.
At 5km in length, runners will navigate through the winding streets with distance markers every half kilometer to keep you on track. The route includes both paved paths and sidewalks ensuring safety while providing scenic views along the way. Finishers can expect a celebratory atmosphere at the end of the course where medals are awarded as they cross the finish line.
On race day, anticipate temperatures ranging from 21.4°C to 31.3°C with an average feel like temperature of 26.4°C. The humidity level will be around 74.8%, making for a warm but manageable evening run. Light winds should keep things moving comfortably without too much resistance.
