Welcome back to the Tupelo Trail Shuffle, now celebrating its fifth year as one of North Mississippi’s premier trail running events! Nestled within Trace State Park on November 21st, this race offers runners an unforgettable experience through some of the most picturesque landscapes in the region. Located at 2139 Faulkner Road in Belden, MS, the park is renowned for its serene beauty and rich biodiversity. The event features a 10K and a 20K route, both winding through single-track trails that snake around Trace State Lake, offering runners stunning views of hardwood timber and ancient pine forests during peak fall foliage season. The terrain presents a mix of rolling hills with modest elevation gains—approximately 400 feet for the shorter course and 900 feet for the longer one. The trails are designed to be both challenging and enjoyable, providing opportunities for fast-paced running while maintaining an approachable difficulty level that even hikers can comfortably manage within the race’s generous time limits. Race day registration opens at Core Cycle & Outdoor on November 20th from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM or directly at Trace State Park starting at 6:00 AM on the morning of the event. Participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable cups and bottles as part of a waste-reduction initiative. Aid stations will be strategically placed around miles four, eight, and ten, offering runners water, electrolytes, fruit, chips, cookies, and other essentials to keep them hydrated and energized throughout the race. Post-race refreshments and adult beverages will also be available for participants to enjoy in a relaxed atmosphere following their efforts. In addition to supporting local trail running communities, this event aims to highlight Trace State Park’s natural beauty while contributing funds directly back into Mississippi's state parks system through proceeds from ticket sales. Participants can look forward to receiving high-quality race swag and finisher medals upon completion of the course, with special recognition for top male and female runners in both distance categories. For those planning an overnight stay, Trace State Park offers tent camping, RV sites, and cabin rentals; however, spaces are limited so early reservations are recommended. Alternatively, a variety of hotels and AirBnBs can be found throughout Tupelo to accommodate out-of-town guests. Join us at the Tupelo Trail Shuffle for a day filled with scenic beauty, community spirit, and an appreciation for the great outdoors!
