The final leg of the Big River Gravel Series is set to take place on Camp Liberty’s picturesque grounds. Nestled among 245 acres of Iowa's finest gravel terrain, this camp offers an unforgettable experience for cyclists and runners alike. Camp Liberty provides a rustic charm with cabins that can accommodate up to 275 riders, ensuring everyone has a comfortable spot after the race. A heated shelter is available if conditions turn less than ideal, offering warmth and comfort during any weather challenge. For those seeking adventure, two cycling routes are on offer: the Mississippi Distance Route (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52939430) for seasoned riders and the Rock Distance Route (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52946409), perfect for more experienced cyclists. A shorter Fun Ride Route is also available at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52959362, catering to a broader audience. The 5K run course promises a challenging yet scenic journey through varied surfaces—gravel, grass, and dirt—all set against the backdrop of rolling terrain. Post-race festivities include a celebratory party for all participants, marking another successful year in gravel riding. Cyclists will receive a slice of Casey's pizza, some pumpkin pie, and a beverage of their choice upon completion. Runners can look forward to pancakes and coffee as part of their post-event celebration. Camp Liberty offers diverse lodging options—from primitive tent camping to more luxurious accommodations like the lodge that sleeps 14—making it easy for everyone to find a place to stay during this event. The Big River Gravel Series, held in the Quad Cities region between Iowa and Illinois, features four events: Hell of the Wind (March 28th), 1904 (April 25th), Burning Quad (July 11th), and The Turkey Burner itself on October 31st. For detailed information about each event, visit bigrivergravel.com. The series includes a competition for overall men and women as well as masters 40+ categories. Points are awarded based on the following system: first place receives 10 points, second place gets 9 points, third place earns 8 points, and so forth down to tenth place earning one point. To be eligible for the series payout, participants must complete at least three of the four events. For the Mississippi Distance Gravel Riding Series, there will be a payout for the top three men and women in each category if more than 50 riders sign up. The total prize increases by $50 per additional rider over this threshold. For instance, with 100 participants, the top payouts would amount to $3,000. Participants must choose between competing on either the Mississippi or Rock River routes and adhere to their chosen distance for all four events; switching distances will reset their points accumulation. Join us at The Turkey Burner for an exhilarating race through Iowa's scenic landscapes. Whether you're a seasoned gravel rider or just starting out, this event promises an unforgettable experience in one of America’s most beautiful regions.
