The Canal Tavern 5k Run & Walk is a chip-timed race along the scenic Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail between Fort Laurens, Bolivar and the Canal Lands Park trailhead in Zoar. After the race, there will be an Octoberfest-style party on the patio of the Canal Tavern of Zoar. Proceeds from this race will benefit the development and maintenance of the Towpath Trail at Canal Lands Park in Tuscarawas County.
Racer registrations made by September 18, 2026 will receive a guaranteed free t-shirt for the race. If registered after this date, t-shirts will be handed out the day of the race on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last.
Day of race sign-in and registration will be held near the Canal Lands Park trailhead and the Canal Tavern of Zoar. A shuttle will depart from the Canal Tavern at 12:15 PM and 12:30 PM to take people to Fort Laurens (starting line).
