Two Islands Half Marathon

In its 16th year, this charming half marathon offers runners an intimate island experience unlike any other. Held on the Isle of Berneray off North Uist’s northern coast, the race is known for maintaining a small and exclusive atmosphere due to its remote location. The event takes place at the end of the racing season when most island races have concluded.
The journey begins near the Gatliff Trust Hostel on Berneray and crosses a causeway onto North Uist before reaching Lochmaddy, where participants are greeted by the finishing line at the Lochmaddy Hotel—the race’s sponsor. This venue also offers a hearty lunch to all finishers, making for an enjoyable post-race celebration.
The route is characterized by gentle undulations, offering a more approachable challenge compared to some of the island's other courses. However, it compensates with stunning scenery that features breathtaking sea views throughout nearly its entire length. The rural setting provides runners with single-track roads where traffic is minimal, allowing for an uninterrupted and serene experience.
Participants can also take comfort in knowing that the route has been officially measured by Scottish Athletics to ensure accuracy and fairness.
Registration for this event closed on July 1st, 2026; however, pre-registration is encouraged for those interested.
