United Irish of Dayton Celtic Festival 5K/10K

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Dayton's RiverScape MetroPark, the Great Miami River Recreation Trail hosts an exhilarating run and walk event that seamlessly blends athleticism with cultural celebration. This annual race takes place during the United Irish of Dayton Celtic Festival, offering participants a unique experience infused with music, dance, and traditional festivities.
The course winds along the scenic recreation trail, providing runners and walkers with stunning views of the Great Miami River as they navigate through downtown Dayton's historic streets. The route is an out-and-back configuration that challenges both endurance and pace on its predominantly flat terrain. Participants can expect a lively atmosphere filled with the sounds of bagpipes and fiddles from nearby festival stages.
Registration for the 5K and 10K events opens early, allowing runners to secure their spots at discounted rates until May 31st. For those who register later, prices increase incrementally up to race day. Shirts are guaranteed only if registered by July 17th; however, a limited number may still be available on the event date.
Awards will be given out for top male and female finishers in both races, as well as age-group winners across seven categories ranging from ages 10-Under to 70+ years. The ceremony begins promptly at 9:15am following the race completion times.
Refreshments are provided post-race near the festival pavilion where participants can enjoy a wide array of food and beverages while celebrating their achievements with friends, family, and fellow runners.
Parking is available on nearby streets or in various lots around downtown Dayton. It's important for attendees to verify that any chosen lot allows public parking before heading out. The race organizers emphasize adherence to local guidelines regarding health and safety measures during the event.
In case of adverse weather conditions, such as thunderstorms, lightning strikes, icy pathways, extreme temperatures, or road closures due to emergencies, the race may be postponed until a later date or converted into an online virtual run without refunds issued. For those who cannot attend on race day but wish to participate remotely, transfers are permitted up until June 27th. All participants must agree that there will be no cancellations for any reason and no items such as shirts or medals will be mailed out under normal circumstances.
