Vashon Island Ultramarathon & Trail Run

The Vashon Island Ultramarathon & Trail Run will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, with the 50 km starting at 8:30 AM and the 20‑mile and 10‑mile races starting at 9:30 AM. The start/finish is at the Gateway Trail system near SW 178th and 103rd SW on Vashon Island, WA. The 50 km course consists of three loops (approximately 10.3 miles per loop) with about 770 feet of elevation gain per loop, while the 20‑miler and 10‑miler follow portions of the same course. The terrain includes single‑track, double‑track, dirt roads, gravel driveways, grass shoulders, and short paved sections.

All participants must follow event rules, including USATF Safe Sport policies and the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies (MAAPP). This is a foot race; dogs are not allowed on course due to wildlife sanctuary restrictions. Portable music players are allowed only if used with care. The course is open to the public; runners may encounter equestrians, pedestrians, and bicyclists and must yield to motorized traffic. No refunds are offered, but roll‑overs may be granted for reasons outside the runner’s control (contact the Race Director). Day‑of‑race registration is available (50 km registrants first, then 10 and 20 mile).

• New for 2026: Team competitions in three categories (Female, Male, Mixed). Three team members' finish times are added together. A team captain must report times to the Finish Tent.
• Aid stations at miles 6 and 10 (and at the start/finish) with water, Coke, Mt. Dew, Tailwind, salt, potato chips, watermelon, cantaloupe, PB&J sandwiches, oranges, bananas, Gu gels, Stroop Waffles, and various junk food. Drop bags are allowed at base camp and at the Heavy Metal Aid Station (mile 6/16/26).
• Camping on Friday night is available by email confirmation; camping is in the big grass field at the start/finish with porta‑potties and jug water.
• Youth Certified Trail Race: runners 18 and under receive discounted registration. Two scholarships are available; email the Race Directors for details.
• Trail Sister Approved: equal podium spots, equal awards, menstrual products at aid stations, equal opportunity/space for women on the start line. The event also conforms to the WSER pregnancy deferral policy and SheRaces guidelines.

Live tracking is available through UltraSignup. A course map and GPX file will be emailed to entrants one week prior to the event. The course is fully permitted but not exclusive; runners should be courteous on private property sections.

• Ferry access: Vashon Island is only accessible by Washington State Ferries. Recommended boats: from West Seattle/Fauntleroy – last ferry for 50 km is 5:10 AM; from Pt. Defiance/Tacoma – last ferry is 7:35 AM (6:45 AM recommended); from Southworth – last ferry is 7:20 AM (6:55 AM recommended). Carpooling is highly recommended due to summer overloads.
• Post‑race food and refreshments available from 12:00 PM.
