Welcome to Vikingesporet, an annual running event that weaves through the picturesque landscapes of Roskilde. Set for 2027, this beloved race offers something for runners of all levels and ages, from its traditional distances like the half marathon and 10 km, to new additions such as a children’s run featuring routes of 2km and 5km. The event kicks off at Vikringskibsmuseet with staggered start times designed to accommodate each distance. The main race starts promptly at 10:00 AM for the half marathon route along Vindeboden, followed by similar timing for shorter distances on the same starting line. A children’s run begins shortly after at 10:10 AM. Participants receive a chip-timed bib number before the start, ensuring accurate tracking of all runners throughout their journey. The race is known for its smooth and scenic route along Roskilde Fjord, where participants enjoy stunning views while running on easy-to-follow paths that emphasize flow and rhythm rather than technical challenges. This year’s course features a straightforward layout: runners head out alongside the water before turning back via the same path. This design ensures a secure and navigable experience for all competitors, allowing them to focus fully on their pace and surroundings without worrying about orientation or complex terrain changes. For future races in 2028, two potential routes have been proposed: - Route A (The Classic): Similar to this year’s layout with runners heading out along the fjord before retracing their steps back. This route offers maximum scenic beauty while maintaining simplicity and ease. - Route B (Terrain Variation): An alternative that takes participants out along water views but returns via the outer edge of Boserup Skov, providing a mix of terrain for those seeking variety. Regardless of which path is chosen, Vikingesporet prioritizes accessibility and enjoyment. The routes are flat and straightforward, suitable even in regular running shoes without any technical mountain biking trails present. Runners can expect to immerse themselves fully in the natural beauty Roskilde has to offer while maintaining a comfortable pace throughout their run. In terms of participation logistics: - Transferring or changing names on race bibs must be approved by organizers and completed at least 10 days before the event. - Requests for transferring numbers from one year to another should be made no later than 30 days prior to the start date, with a handling fee of DKK 75 applied in both cases. Vikingesporet is an inclusive race that celebrates movement within Roskilde’s most enchanting settings. As you lace up your shoes and join us on this journey through nature and history, prepare for a memorable experience where every runner can find their stride amidst stunning Danish landscapes. For any inquiries or to transfer your entry, please contact Birger Jensen at birger@trailman.dk with relevant details of the original registration. Remember that unauthorized use of start numbers may lead to disqualification in accordance with Danish law and race regulations. We look forward to seeing you there!
