Virgil Crest it ain't for... Looking for something more PC? Well... Virgil Crest Ain't Easy. Ascents and descents can be steep , cumulative gain and loss are significant, and there's always the chance for weather to double down on those challenges. But: The sunrise as you crest the opening climb, the singletrack forest, and the technical flow are... Beautiful.
A New Path Same Grit. The Tradition To keep up with Ian's, perhaps intentional, tradition... the course WILL be different in some manner from years prior. We will try to get out ahead with course maps and updates. We can promise there will be climbing. We have every intention to have this year be a major course shift. As of right now, we're waiting on a few things to settle in before the course is fully released but it'll be everything Virgil has to offer, and then some... promise.
WHAT Ya Get? We're looking into details of what exactly to get ya. Virgil has a history of cool, locally sourced finishers giveaways—those WILL be in the mix. Expect something snazzy.
RACE Schedule. Start times are posted above. Cut off for the 100mi is 36 hours from the official start. Aid Station cut offs will be posted once the full course is set. Distance Drop Policy: You will receive an unofficial finish time for the distance you drop into.
PACERS & Poles. 100 Mile entrants are permitted pacers at or after 50 miles, or nightfall. Poles are permitted for all entrants; those over 50 miles in 2021 found them highly beneficial. The Only Request: Poles MUST fit in a drop bag if left at an aid station for transport.
CREW Info. We’re working hard to make sure the stations are crew accessible. The Start/Finish is confirmed for crew access, and there will be at least one additional station throughout the course. Others will be updated soon.
