About the Event

VirsboRUN is a scenic and community-focused trail running event held in the unique environment of the Hälleskogsbrännan nature reserve—the site of the massive 2014 forest fire. Scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026, the race offers a raw and varied experience through regenerating forests and ancient woodlands. Participants start and finish at Skräddartorpet, where they can enjoy a festive atmosphere complete with music, a pre-race warm-up, and freshly grilled burgers (including vegetarian options) included for all competitors.

The main course is a 5.3 km loop featuring 101 meters of elevation gain per lap. Runners have the flexibility to decide mid-race how many laps they wish to complete, choosing between the single loop (5.3 km), 10.6 km, 15.9 km, or the "tuff" terrain half-marathon (21.2 km). The track consists of natural paths with rocks and roots, providing a technical challenge for seasoned runners and a beautiful nature walk for casual participants.

Logistics and Participant Information:

-- Kids' Race: The Knatteloppet is free of charge. Every young participant receives a finisher medal and a surprise bag filled with treats.
-- Facilities: Skräddartorpet provides a full-service race hub with parking, changing rooms, showers, toilets, and separate saunas for men and women.
-- Finisher Perks: All adult participants receive a medal upon request and a grilled burger meal with a drink after crossing the finish line.
-- Terrain: The race winds through an untouched nature reserve with no car roads to cross, offering a safe and immersive forest experience.
-- Water Stations: An additional hydration station is located at roughly the halfway point (2.5 km) of the loop.
-- Accessibility: Virsbo is easily accessible by train or car, located approximately 40 km from Västerås and 140 km from Stockholm.
-- Volunteer Organization: The event is organized by the non-profit SK TRIM Virsbo, with all work performed by local volunteers to support local athletics.
