With a chip-timed course starting from Canada Square Park, the event will see around 5,000 participants running under the stars.
Volunteers are at the heart of Run The Wharf's success. They play crucial roles in ensuring that every runner has an unforgettable night out. From cheering on racers to handing out refreshments and keeping everyone safe, volunteers contribute to creating a unique atmosphere filled with energy and excitement.
Roles Include:
At the Info & Registration Desk, you’ll greet runners as they arrive, distribute bibs efficiently, and direct participants where needed. This front-of-house position sets the tone for the event right from the start, requiring friendly faces and quick feet to handle the influx of racers smoothly.
The Bag Drop team will manage athletes' belongings before and after their run, ensuring that every runner can focus on crossing the finish line without worrying about personal items. Precision and efficiency are key in this role as you check bags in and out with ease throughout the evening.
In the Start Waves, volunteers help guide runners to the starting line, hype up each wave of participants before they begin their race, and ensure a seamless start for all involved. This is one of the most dynamic positions on site, characterized by high energy and clear communication.
The General Support / Event Village crew are versatile helpers who can adapt quickly between different tasks as needed throughout the night. Ideal for those looking to experience various aspects of the event firsthand while contributing wherever help is required.
At the Finish Line, volunteers form part of a cheer squad that welcomes every runner home with confetti and excitement, capturing memorable moments from each finisher's reactions. This role is all about bringing joy and energy to the end point where racers complete their journey under the lights.
Behind the scenes, the Logistics & Set-up team works tirelessly before race day to prepare the site for thousands of runners. They set up the event village, ensuring everything looks inviting and well-organized so participants can enjoy a smooth experience from start to finish.
Out on the course, Course Marshals ensure that all athletes stay safe by guiding them along the route and keeping an eye out for any potential hazards or issues. This outdoor role demands enthusiasm and attention to detail as you help maintain order during the race window.
Finally, the Sweeper Team, consisting of confident runners or cyclists who enjoy a challenge, rides alongside the last finishers to ensure everyone completes their run safely and efficiently. They play an essential safety role by encouraging racers until they cross the line.
