Welcome to the West Virginia Trail Festival (WVTF)! This Wild, Tough, Fun family-oriented annual trail running event occurs every May in the heart of Pocahontas County, WV. Pocahontas is known as WV most mountainous county! WVTF trail races include: 100K, 50K, 30K, 5K and kids fun run mile. Other weekend activities will include a movie night, kid's activities, a ride on the Cass Historic Railroad and awards ceremony. The goal is to create a unique one-of-a-kind experience that will highlight West Virginia’s beautiful and mountainous landscape while highlighting her unique history: West Virginia's beautiful State Parks, the Monongahela National Forest, Cass Historic Railroad, the Green Bank Observatory (GBO), historic local fire towers, Snowshoe Ski Resort, and Pocahontas County. We promise a WILD, TOUGH, and FUN experience that will be memorable for all.

Snowshoe is an unincorporated community in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, United States, centering on the Snowshoe Mountain ski resort. It is situated in the Allegheny Mountains at a bowl shaped convergence of two high mountain ridges — Cheat and Back Allegheny Mountains — at the head of the Shavers Fork of the Cheat River. Snowshoe is site of the second highest point in the state and the peak elevation for Cheat Mountain, at Thorny Flat, which reaches 4,848 feet (1,478 m) above sea level.
