Whistler X Tri returns to Whistler, British Columbia on September 20th, offering a bucket-list off-road triathlon experience in the heart of one of Canada's most stunning mountain resort towns.
Race morning begins under a clear blue sky, with temperatures ranging from a crisp 10.1°C to a warm but comfortable 21.1°C. The air is fresh and invigorating as runners gather at Lost Lake Park for their trek through the fall foliage. This park provides both the perfect start line and finish line, surrounded by towering trees and scenic views of Whistler's renowned mountains.
Whistler X Tri has been a cornerstone event since its inception in 2018, drawing participants from around the globe to compete over three disciplines: swimming, mountain biking, and trail running. This year marks the sixth edition, with thousands expected to participate across various categories including championship, sprint, relay, kids, and youth races.
The Championship race covers a grueling yet exhilarating 51km distance that includes a crystal-clear lake swim, a globally renowned singletrack MTB course, and stunning fall trail running. The Sprint category is slightly less daunting at 25km but still demanding with its own unique challenges on the bike and run courses.
The Kids & Youth races offer various distances tailored to smaller athletes, ensuring an inclusive experience for all ages. Participants can look forward to a custom high-quality swag bag including a Whistler X Tri swim cap, sticker, and finisher's medal. Age group awards are also up for grabs, adding another layer of motivation.
Registration is now open at https://raceroster.com/events/2026/115985/whistler-x-tri with fees ranging from $61.33 to $282.12 depending on the category and whether you opt for a training plan as well. Team Challenge relay teams must register all members individually using unique links provided during registration.
Race morning starts early, with participants encouraged to be at Lost Lake Park by 7am sharp. The course is laid out through some of Whistler's most picturesque trails and roads before culminating in the same park where it began. Elevation gains are minimal but steady throughout; there will also be aid stations for hydration along the way.
Weather conditions on race day can feel a bit cool with an average temperature around 15.6°C, so runners should come prepared with layers to stay comfortable during their journey through the challenging terrain. A light breeze of about 5km/h adds some character but is not overwhelming. Precipitation risk is low given current forecasts.
