Skunk Ape Night Run: Wild Boar Edition
Join us for an unforgettable night run through the mystical Green Swamp, located at West Tract near Dade City, Florida. Scheduled on September 12th, 2026, this half-marathon event starts at a unique time of 7:30 PM and promises to be rain or shine. The race is designed for all paces, ensuring that everyone has the chance to cross the finish line.
Location & Course
The route winds through one of Florida’s most captivating landscapes—the Green Swamp West Tract—where you’ll experience a mix of old forest roads, pasture lanes, and sections of the renowned Florida Trail. The course is an out-and-back journey, offering runners stunning vistas under moonlight and starry skies. With an elevation gain and loss totaling 127 feet each way, this race challenges your endurance while immersing you in nature’s serene beauty.
Aid Stations
The aid station will be located at the McNeil Trailhead turnaround point, approximately 6.6 miles from the start line. Here, runners can expect to find a variety of refreshments including soda, pickles, gummy bears or worms (yes, really), chips, snacks, cookies, produce, and electrolyte powders. Additionally, band-aids and feminine hygiene products will be available in all aid stations.
Post-Race Potluck Party
For just $25, participants can enjoy a post-race potluck party where everyone brings their favorite dish to share with fellow runners. Whether it’s fresh fruit, pasta salad, baked chicken wings, or homemade desserts like cookies and banana bread, this event is all about community and celebration.
Ruck Challenge
A special rucking option is available for those who want an extra challenge. Ruckers will receive a Wild Boar Night Run patch upon completion of the half-marathon with their weighted backpacks. The weight requirement varies based on your bodyweight: 20 pounds if under 150 lbs, and 30 pounds if over.
Trail Marking & Safety
The route is clearly marked with pink flags featuring reflective tape for easy visibility in low light conditions. Participants should stay alert to these markers and avoid crossing any areas marked with small pink flags. The race director’s phone number will be provided on the bibs, ensuring quick access to support if needed.
Drop Bags & Camping
A drop bag zone is available at the McNeil Trailhead turnaround point for storing extra gear during your run. Drop bags must have runners' names clearly written and should fit within a standard drawstring size limit. While post-event pick-up arrangements will be made, campers are welcome to stay overnight in free sites with picnic tables and fire rings near the Green Swamp.
