Experience the captivating beauty of Southern Colorado's Cuchara Valley at Wild Out at the Wild Wahatoya. This annual October Fest celebration, held in conjunction with the towns of La Veta and Cuchara, invites runners to explore a landscape rich in history and natural splendor.
The event offers three distinct race options: a 50K route that winds through rugged terrain, a challenging half marathon, and an 8-mile course designed for all skill levels. The 50K journey begins in the charming town of La Veta, weaving through its historic streets before venturing onto untamed county roads with breathtaking views of dikes, buttes, and majestic mountains.
Participants will traverse newly maintained trails that lead directly back into town, culminating at a festive gathering spot near the Cuchara Yacht Club. The half marathon and 8-mile races start on private property and follow scenic routes through the Dike trail and other local favorites before returning to the archway at the yacht club.
Local businesses will provide top-notch accommodations for out-of-town visitors, while live music from talented musicians sets a lively atmosphere. A variety of delicious food options are available throughout the day, enhancing the festive spirit. To ensure you receive your race shirt in your preferred size, register by Sunday, August 31st. Same-day registration is also possible at packet pickup for the 50K on Friday and Saturday for both the half marathon and 8-mile events.
