Explore Sydney’s urban landscapes like never before with this week's special Saturday Orienteering Series, brought to you by Garingal Orienteers as part of the Willoughby Emerge Festival. This event promises an engaging day out for all ages and skill levels in Beauchamp Park. The courses are designed to be fast-paced yet fun, winding through the park’s lush gardens with options ranging from beginner-friendly routes to more challenging ones. A unique addition this year is a maze featuring multiple mini-courses, allowing participants to choose their level of challenge or simply enjoy exploring each course at their own pace. Whether you decide to tackle one course or several, every run contributes to your enjoyment and skill-building. If you happen to take a wrong turn, don’t worry—playful time bonuses are in place to keep the focus on fun rather than competition. This light-hearted approach ensures that everyone can participate without pressure, making it an ideal outing for families and groups of friends alike. For those new to orienteering, this event is designed with you in mind. Clear maps, beginner-friendly courses, and friendly guidance are provided to help newcomers feel comfortable from the start. Simply wear your most comfortable activewear and bring a sense of curiosity as you navigate through hidden pockets of nature within Sydney’s urban parks. The meeting point for all participants will be at Beauchamp Park on Nicholson Street in Chatswood. The event runs from 9:30am to 11am, with the option to start anytime during this window. SPORTident timing is used across all courses, so if you don’t have a card, one can be hired upon arrival. Entry fees are as follows: - Adults: $18 (members receive a 15% discount) - School Students: $15 (also with a 15% member discount) A late fee of $2 applies for entries submitted after midday on Thursday before the event. The price includes GST and merchant fees. Orienteering club members can claim their discounts by using the promo code "ONSW" at checkout. Join us this Saturday, September 5th, to experience a day filled with exploration, adventure, and fun in one of Sydney’s most beautiful urban parks.
