The Wiltshire 10 is a scenic and challenging 10-mile run that winds through the charming landscapes of Melksham, starting and finishing at King George V Playing Field. This inaugural edition aims to carry on the legacy established by Stampede Sports over the past thirteen years under Darren's leadership. Competitors will embark on a route that showcases the beauty of rural Wiltshire as they venture out towards Lacock, a picturesque village renowned for its historic charm and photogenic streets. The course is meticulously measured to UK Athletics standards, ensuring accuracy and fairness in timing and distance. Awards are given to top finishers across various age categories—1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for male and female runners as well as V40 (over 40), V50 (over 50), V60 (over 60), and V70 (over 70) divisions. All participants will receive a medal upon completion. Registration takes place at the Wiltshire Youth Canoe Club in King George V Playing Field from 8:30 to 9:30 am, where you can collect your race number and any merchandise orders. The event starts promptly at 10:00 am with a brief safety briefing before the start. Facilities include toilets on-site as well as refreshments available for purchase throughout the day. Two water stations are strategically placed along the route—at approximately 3.5 miles and 7 miles—to help runners stay hydrated during their run through varied terrain that includes both flat stretches and gentle inclines typical of rural Wiltshire. Parking is not permitted at King George V Playing Field, but several council car parks in Melksham offer convenient alternatives for participants who plan to drive. Public transport options are also available, making it easy for runners from all over the region to join this exciting event. Participants must be 16 years or older on race day and adhere strictly to rules regarding headphones and dogs being prohibited. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs due to its undulating nature. Entrance fees are £27.00 for affiliated runners and £29.00 for unattached competitors aged 16+. Entries open until January 1, 2027, but may close earlier if the race limit is reached; there will be no entries accepted on the day of the event. Merchandise such as buffs, bib clips, and a commemorative mug can be ordered through Facebook ahead of time for collection at registration. Join us in celebrating this unique blend of sport and scenic beauty in Wiltshire!

About Melksham
Learn more about the host city, Melksham.
Melksham is a small town in Wiltshire. It is not most people's idea of a tourist destination. Originally an Anglo-Saxon settlement Melksham became one of Wiltshire's industrial towns and grew on the back of the Avon rubber factory.
