About the Event

The Wy’east Trailfest returns to Mt. Hood, Oregon on Saturday, August 15th and Sunday, August 16th, 2026, offering a diverse selection of trail races for runners of all abilities across the weekend. The event is set against the backdrop of Mt. Hood’s stunning alpine terrain, featuring routes that range from challenging point-to-point courses to scenic loop trails. Participants will navigate through volcanic ridgelines and lush forests, with elevation gains and losses adding to the unique mountain experience.
Race morning at Wy’east Trailfest in Mt. Hood starts early as runners gather near the base of Mount Hood’s slopes for their respective race start times. The air is crisp, often carrying a cool mist from nearby waterfalls or streams that wind through the forested trails. As participants make their way up into higher elevations, they are greeted by panoramic views and an array of natural features such as wildflower meadows and cascading falls. On both Saturday and Sunday mornings, runners can expect temperatures ranging between 60°F to 75°F with moderate humidity levels.
Since its inception in 2014, Wy’east Trailfest has become a cornerstone event for trail runners in the Pacific Northwest, attracting over 300 participants annually who come together not only to challenge themselves but also to support local community initiatives. The race weekend culminates in the Half Marathon on Sunday, which starts and finishes at Mt. Hood Meadows main lodge, offering breathtaking views of the summit throughout its route.
The Wy’east Trailfest offers a variety of distances ranging from an epic 50-mile point-to-point course to more accessible half marathon, 8K, and Kids Race options. Each race features unique challenges tailored to different skill levels and interests within the running community.

Registration fees vary depending on the event, with costs starting from $80 for an 8K race up to $220 for a full 50-mile journey. Early bird discounts and cutoff dates apply; be sure to sign up early to secure your spot.
Bib pickup is available at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Area located near the summit of Mount Hood on Friday from 4 PM to 7 PM or Saturday morning starting at 6 AM. Participants must bring their confirmation email receipt for verification purposes. On race day, participants should arrive well before their respective start times and check-in with race officials.

Mount Hood is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Hood River County, Oregon, United States, about 3 miles (5 km) northeast of Parkdale on Oregon Route 35. As of the 2020 census, Mount Hood had a population of 310. Mount Hood is the terminus of Oregon Route 281, the Hood River Highway.
