Join us on Thanksgiving morning at the YMCA Gobble Wobble 5k and 1 Mile Family Fun Run for an uplifting start to your holiday. This year marks our fifth annual celebration, bringing together runners of all ages to enjoy a scenic route through downtown Wichita Falls while supporting local community initiatives. Race day activities kick off early with packet pickup from noon on Wednesday until 8:00 PM at the Downtown YMCA. On Thanksgiving morning itself, race registration and packet pick-up open promptly at 7 AM, giving you plenty of time before the festivities begin. At 8 AM, participants can contribute to our food drive benefiting the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank by donating non-perishable items. The event is designed with a heartwarming atmosphere in mind, starting off with an opening ceremony featuring an invocation and national anthem at 8:30 AM. The fun kicks into high gear shortly after as the one-mile family run commences at 8:45 AM, followed by the more challenging 5k race beginning at 9:30 AM. The route for both events is carefully planned to highlight some of downtown's most iconic landmarks and features while ensuring a safe passage through intersections with volunteer support. The 1 Mile Fun Run offers an easy-going circuit that’s perfect for families, while the 5k presents runners with varied terrain including stretches along Indiana Street where you’ll find a water station around the two-mile mark. Post-race festivities include award presentations to the top three male and female finishers of the 5k at approximately 10:45 AM. These awards consist of gift cards from local businesses, adding an extra touch of community spirit. Participants in the one-mile fun run will have a chance to win prizes through a raffle. Parking is available on the southeast lot cornering Burnett and Ninth Street, with traffic along Ninth Street being closed between Scott and Austin Streets during race hours for your safety. For any inquiries or concerns leading up to the event, please reach out to Noah Mathews at noah@ymcawf.org. Come join us this Thanksgiving as we celebrate community spirit through sport!

About Wichita Falls
Learn more about the host city, Wichita Falls.
Wichita Falls is a town in the North Central Plains of Texas, named for Wichita Indians who lived near waterfalls on what is now the Wichita River. In 1882, Fort Worth and Denver Railroad brought the first train to the area, establishing the town as an agricultural and trade center. The oil boom in the early 1900s made city headquarters for north Texas petroleum production, service and manufacturing. The city is the seat for Wichita County and a leading gateway to Texas on I-44. It's a major trade and industrial center with economy based on Sheppard Air Force Base, oil processing and other varied manufacturing.
