THE CHALLENGE RACE YOKOHAMA 12 is a JAAF-certified event on a fast course with no more than 3 m of elevation difference, held on a 10 km loop along the right bank of the Tsurumi River. Distances are the 1 mile, 5K, 10K, half marathon, 30K and full marathon. Registration is at the shelter on the east side of Shin-Yokohama 3-chome Park, about a 10-minute walk from Shin-Yokohama Station, and the main start is at 9:30. Pacers lead 12 pace groups, with full marathon targets from 2:30 to 4:20. Each lap has three water stations, at 2 km, 4.7 km and 8.4 km, all offering Aminovital GOLD drink and one also giving out gel. Runners line up five minutes before the start, so they can keep warming up until then. Fees are 11,000 yen for the full marathon, 7,700 yen for the 30K and half marathon, 5,500 yen for the 10K and 3,300 yen for the 5K and 1 mile. Time limits include 40 minutes for 5K, 90 minutes for 10K, 2 hours 15 minutes for the half and 4 hours 30 minutes for the full. The race is part of the R.LEAGUE runners' league, which awards points and tickets for finishing and times and gives returning members 10% off the entry fee. Results are issued online only, and there is no baggage check.
