The Great Barrow Challenge invites runners to experience ten days of diverse and challenging routes across Suffolk, hosted by Zig Zag Running at the Suffolk Running Centre. On Day Four, competitors will tackle the Gallops route in its entirety, offering a mix of terrain that promises both scenic beauty and physical challenge. The event takes place at the exclusive venue on Church Road in Bury St Edmunds (IP29 5AX), where runners can immerse themselves in the local landscape. Throughout the series, participants will encounter various routes such as Denham Flats for a straightforward out-and-back course, Windmill and Kirtling with their varied terrain, and Dalham Kiln offering half-route options. Each day presents unique challenges tailored to different runner preferences, from flat stretches on Day 1 at Denham Flats to the rolling hills of Golding Hills. Parking is included in your entry fee for convenience, ensuring a smooth start to each race day. The event base camp serves as both the starting point and aid station, providing essential hydration throughout the run. Runners can expect bespoke medals awarded upon completion of their chosen distance on any given day. To support sustainability efforts, participants are encouraged to bring reusable bottles or cups for refilling at water stations along the course.
