About the Event

The Limnathalassas Aitolikou Circuit is a unique running race that circles the picturesque Lake of Aitoliko, primarily on asphalt with minimal elevation changes. The starting and finishing lines are set along the Western Coast of Aitoliko.
In addition to the main 23-kilometer event, there's also a shorter 5-kilometer run for those looking for an easier challenge or just want to enjoy the scenic route around the lake. For younger participants, a children’s race covering 1 kilometer is organized specifically for elementary and junior high school students.
All runners who complete the course receive commemorative merchandise including a souvenir t-shirt and collectible medal inspired by the artwork of Vasso Katraki, an exceptional artist hailing from Aitoliko whose work captures the essence and beauty of her hometown.
This event offers participants not only a chance to experience the serene surroundings but also to connect with local culture through artistry that celebrates the area's heritage.

About Aitoliko

Aitoliko is a town and a former municipality in Aetolia-Acarnania, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform, it is part of the municipality Messolonghi, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 129,305 m2. It is located north of the Acheloos delta. The Greek National Road 5/E55 passes through the municipal unit. It is located SW of Agrinion, about 20 km NW of Messolonghi, W of Nafpaktos and the Rio-Antirrio bridge and SE of Astakos. Until it became a part of Greece, it was known as Anatoliko (Ανατολικό), meaning eastern.
