1. Baumberge Ultramarathon

The Baumberger Ultramarathon is an exhilarating 45.7-kilometer race that takes runners through the scenic and challenging terrain of the Baumberge region. Starting at Coesfeld railway station, this point-to-point route winds its way to Havixbeck railway station, offering participants a unique blend of natural beauty and historical charm.
Participants can reach the starting line in several ways: by train from Havixbeck or by driving directly to Coesfeld. Train tickets cost 9.50 euros (as of May 2026), with trains departing at 7:30 AM for an arrival time of 7:52 AM at Coesfeld station, followed by a briefing and start at 8:10 AM sharp.
The route follows the Baumberger Wandermarathon trail, which is marked but can be tricky to follow without guidance. Runners will encounter a significant elevation change with a climb up Westerberg Hill, reaching an altitude of 189 meters above sea level near kilometer 23.6. Around this point, runners must navigate a short detour to the Longinusturm and then return to the main trail.
The race continues through varied landscapes, including stretches that require careful attention due to street crossings where traffic signals or pedestrian islands should be used for safety. At kilometers 18 and 32, there are two mandatory feed stations with basic provisions; runners must carry their own supplies otherwise.
With a time limit of eight hours plus some leeway at the discretion of organizers, participants will experience stunning views and challenging terrain throughout this ultramarathon event. Upon completion, all finishers receive a medal and an official results certificate from Race Result.
This race is listed with DUV - Deutsche Ultramarathon Vereinigung e.V., ensuring it meets high standards for organization and safety. Runners are advised to follow the marked trail closely or use GPS tracks provided by organizers, as deviating significantly can result in disqualification due to potential hazards or rule violations related to conservation areas.
Registration is open until one day before the event at 6 PM local time unless full capacity has been reached earlier; a waiting list will be maintained thereafter. Entry fees are 22 euros payable via bank transfer by July 12, 2026.
