The Rekener 24-Hour Run is set to take place on September 11-12, 2026, starting at 4 PM. Located in Klein-Reken, Germany (Am Sportplatz), this endurance event offers a unique opportunity for runners of all levels to test their limits over an asphalted course that winds through the picturesque fields around Rekener.
The loop measures approximately 2.4 kilometers with about 30 meters of elevation gain per lap. The terrain is mostly flat, but the route's undulations provide enough variation to keep things interesting for participants. Night runners will find partial lighting along parts of the course and are advised to bring headlamps or other light sources.
Participants can take breaks at any time during their 24-hour window and resume running whenever they're ready. The event is open to everyone, with no specific age limit imposed. Wheelchairs and rolling walkers (with wheels) are permitted for those who require mobility assistance. Walking, hiking, or leisurely strolling is also allowed.
The Rekener 24-Hour Run raises funds for the German Children's Hospice Association e.V. and Lebenshilfe Borken, making it a meaningful event that combines sport with charity efforts. Dogs are welcome on leashes but runners must always prioritize courtesy towards fellow participants.
Registration opens online from April 1st, 2026, via Race Result’s platform (https://my.raceresult.com/388916/) and remains open until September 9th, 2026. Late registrations can be made at the event site on a first-come-first-served basis.
Participants will receive an electronic wristband for lap counting, which displays their current round count after crossing the timing mat. The entry fee is €5 for adults and €3 for youth (born in or after 2008). A non-refundable deposit of €2 covers the cost of a race number that can be refunded upon return.
The event encourages donations to support its charitable causes, with contributions accepted on-site through designated boxes or via direct bank transfer. For larger sums exceeding €200, donors will receive official receipts for tax purposes if requested.
Amenities at Rekener include food services in a marked area and portable toilets nearby. Participants are also welcome to bring their own provisions. Changing facilities are available along with overnight camping options (tents, caravans) from Friday until Sunday within designated areas only.
